Role · UI designer & illustrator
For this project I was the UI designer and illustrator, managing the creation of visual design elements.
The challenge
As our client base grew, our Head of Product recognized the need for a unified approach. We decided to create a global design template for our SAT/ACT products, a foundation we could efficiently customize to each client's needs and branding.
After we developed our initial SAT app, the Head of Product suggested a design system with interchangeable illustrations, so we could easily adapt the app for clients who needed 70–90% of the same content.
Moodboarding
We decided to prioritize illustrations in the design process. The goal was visuals that would captivate and engage students, make the experience enjoyable and guide them seamlessly through the app.
Next, we brainstormed as a team on 3D-style illustrations that would be visually appealing and engaging.
From sketch to illustration
Each illustration started as a hand sketch tied to a specific moment in the app, then became a rendered 3D scene in the product's palette.
Study length
This illustration emphasizes time, matching the question posed to students, "How long do you want to study daily?"

Subject selection
Designed for the onboarding preferences, where students choose the subjects they want to focus on and improve.

Package expired modal
When a student's package expired, they saw this modal with a call to action to renew their subscription.

Target test date
During onboarding, students share their projected test date, which later determines how often they get practice tests.

The design system
We broke every design element down into modular, reusable components, for consistency and a streamlined application across the project.
